Founding member Milwaukee Highlanders. Independent, solo piper, 25 years or thereabouts, played weddings, funerals, and one bar mitzva. Taught about 50 people over the years in the Society for Creative Anachronism, 12 of whom are good, four of whom are great, and two of whom: I ain't fit to wash their hose! I'm neither the best piper nor the best teacher in the world. I spoil students by encouraging them to express themselves on the pipes (play it the way you feel it, I don't care how it's written). Most of my students have not done well with bands--too individualistic. On the other hand, if you're an independent cuss and see bagpipes as a musical instrument like any other and you want to explore them, I'm your man.
