OUR
MISSION...
...is to use the internet to bridge the gap between
Irish people and Irish-related organizations abroad, which so often a
hard time finding each other. Not only will this allow people find
useful resources and have fun together, it will also strengthen Irish
clubs, organizations and businesses and help build Irish community
around the world. This service is also open to those of Irish descent
and anyone with an interest in matters Irish.
OUR
DIRECTORY
Our first project is an internet
directory
of Irish resources in the USA. There are hundreds of Irish groups and
businesses all over the country, but even locals don't know about
many of them. Our directory can be searched by category, name and
location, all entries are verified by phone or mail, and each entry
is given the chance to describe themselves in their own words. This
is a unique project - to the best of our knowledge, no such printed
or online directory has ever been compiled before.
WHO WE ARE
IrishNet is founded and run by Gerard Manning and Patrick O'Farrell, two young Irish emigrants who got tired of never being able to find out all the Irish things happening around the place. We created IrishNet to help others in the same situation and to promote links between Irish people and communities, at home and abroad. We have an almost unmatched experience at serving Irish American interests on the net, since we also run the enormously popular Ceolas celtic music service, since 1993 (when the Web barely existed), which is now used by over 50,000 readers every month.
